Father of the Bride

The Father of the Bride.  In my 15 years of documenting weddings, the relationship between a Bride and her Father has always had a special place in my heart.  Being able to witness as well as photograph that bond has been one of the greatest joys of my work.  Presenting those images and seeing the emotions that follow makes me realize how meaningful our work can be.  Now, as a father of a bride to be (no sooner than 30 yrs from now of course), I pray that my Gia will find a husband as stellar as many of the Grooms I've had the privilege to photograph.  The FOB doesn't get much of the attention.  Just as he would probably prefer.  Many times, the only thing he gets is the bill.  This is my brief tribute to the Father of the Bride.  Her first love.  Her hero.  Her Dad.

Heather and Steven. Lange Farm

We were so happy to hear when one of our assistant's, Heather, met Steven. We were even more thrilled to hear of their engagement. Of course, we wanted to be a part of their wedding. We were really touched by just how much emotion we witnessed through them and their families. Their love for each other shined so brightly in their eyes and we were truly honored to be there to capture their wedding images.

Mandy and Adam. Bella Collina

Well, most of you know that I've been blessed to photograph numerous weddings in Tuscany.  I didn't think anywhere, especially, central Florida could rival such beauty.  Until now.  Mandy and Adam picked a wonderful location, Bella Collina, to host their wedding day.  As stunning as this old world Italy venue is, Mandy and Adam, along with family and friends brought it to life.  I hope you'll enjoy your photographs for a lifetime!  Grazie Amici!

One of the most spiritual and heartfelt weddings that I've had the pleasure of documenting in quite some time.  Diana Kelly and Matt Buchanan were married at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Sarasota.  Following, guest were treated to a cocktail hour with acrobatic performers and a jet flyover performed by friends of the Bride and Groom.  NK Productions once again shined along with some of the top wedding vendors in the industry today.  The courtyard of the Ringling Museum of Art has never been so beautiful.  Stunning!   A very special thank you to Michael Schuhmann and Jason Stephens for their photographic efforts too!  Could not have done it without you.  Diana and Matt, may God bless your marriage with lots of love and many children!

Janet and Mike. Carlouel Yacht Club.

I met Janet towards the end of last year.  She had stopped by the studio as most brides-to-be do to inquire about our services.  She brought her beautiful mother who has an even more beautiful soul and it was a match from moment one.  Their roots are in the magnificent hills of central Mexico where family in numero uno - very much like our beloved Tuscany.  That's where Mike comes in.  An Italian through and through, Mike and I met in Pittsburgh.  I had photographed their engagements session at their historic home in Mt. Lebanon. The wedding day was a bit warm.  June warm in Florida.  But never have I felt so warm as their welcome.  As if I had been a part of the family forever.  The familiar words in my wife's Italian family "did you eat?" was asked countless times.  No better way of making me feel right a home.  Janet and Mike, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your day.

Eva and Rick. Siena, Italy

No matter the season or conditions, whether hot, cold, wet, or dry, Italy never disappoints.  So on this blustery, wet, cold spring day, Eva and Rick along with their guests of about 12 (that would include Gia, Elena and me) had all the makings needed for a perfect and very intimate Italian wedding.  Beginning with the Bride's preparation at the Palazzo Ravizza Hotel, now one of my new favorite hotels in all of Siena, she then made her short walk to the "courthouse" for the ceremony.  Well, maybe I should explain just a bit about an Italian courthouse.  Let me just say this is no ordinary courthouse.  The Palazzo Pubblico, built in 1297 houses some of the most stunning architecture and artwork from medieval times which has its beauty rivaling the most ornate, palatial Italian Villas & Castles.  So to say this place is just an ordinary courthouse is a bit "pazzo".  With the help of my good friend, Tuscan Event Planner, Ben Singleton (an unbelievable painter by the way, www.bensingleton.com), we were able to weather the rain and the cold to create some beautiful and timeless photographs.  We are very grateful to Eva and Rick for appreciating our photography enough to include us into their romantic and intimate wedding plans.  We hope they'll enjoy their photographs for a lifetime to come.

Honored... to be a top 10 wedding photographer in the world for 2013

...to say the least.  I wish I had more words to describe my gratitude for being included in such an unbelievably talented group of photographers.   I've followed this edition in previous years and I truly can't believe I'm on the list.  Thank you to American Photo and to my peers who have recognized my photography as something special.  An honor of a lifetime.  One more thing.  My apologies for the poor image quality of the first dance shot.  I evidently sent them a working file instead of the finished one.  Ouch!

On the night before Lindsey & Frank exchanged their nuptials in the gardens of Annie Palmer's beautiful Rose Hall Great House, we went on a little nightly "Ghost Tour" of the Great House.  It is one of only a few remaining Sugar Plantation Manor Houses remaining on the Island.  Its lasting legacy was not because the Plantation Owners were kind to their slaves, as was the reason the other Manor Houses remained untouched.  It was because the slaves feared the White Witch's retaliation from beyond the grave.  Well, our "Ghost Tour" revealed no Ghosts to us.  However, does that really mean she doesn't exist?  Not according to the many strange photographs the Great House proudly displays.  For us, however, maybe next time we'll meet Annie. Above all else, the Rose Hall Great House is an exceptional venue for a destination wedding to Jamaica.  The beauty of the Great House and the amazing gardens captivate even the most experienced traveler.  Its beauty was only magnified by the generosity of the most accommodating staff which provided Georgia Watson with Georgia Watson Events the tools to orchestrate such a magnificent wedding even though she was located in Tampa, Florida.   She really outdid herself!  Location was never an issue for Georgia.  She was instrumental in finding many of the vendors who helped make Lindsey & Frank's wedding a dream come true.  From the Ardenne High School Choir of Kingston who drove many hours to sing for the bride & groom and brought the bride and many of the guests to tears, to the amazing food from Ciao Bella Catering which made this Italian girl's palate leap for joy, to the band and DJ who kept all of the guests dancing all night long, her attention to every detail and the ability to manage such a large vendor cast  made this wedding truly a dream wedding.

Congratulations to Lindsey & Frank.
